My outlook inbox view suddenly changed

WebSuddenly several weeks ago I started getting spam mail in my inbox and hundreds of spam in my junk box. I deleted and blocked a bunch of stuff but now it seems worse. I see from previous questions in 2024 there doesn't seem to be much that can be done. Why not? I don't have that problem with gmail or yahoo so surely MS Outlook can figure this out.
