Without caching there is a noticeable delay with almost every action. With on-prem Exchange we opted to turn Cached mode off. So my answer is both Yea and Nay. I recently disabled the option to use Cached Exchange Mode for the shared mailbox and now users are unable to search for emails within the body of the email or attachments.
